DSE, CSE dip at opening

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw sharp decline in the early hours of trading on Wednesday.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, shed 44.68 points or 0.99 percent to plunge to 4,433.31 points after the first 30 minutes of trade at 11:00am.

The two others indices also saw steep decline.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 18.19 points or 1.07 percent to 1,673.31.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) dropped 14.20 points or 1.30 percent to stand at 1,076.78 points.

DSE turnover stood at Tk 557 million at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 48 advanced, 125 declined and 27 remained unchanged.

Lafarge Surma Cement was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 180m changing hands till then followed by GP, SPCL, ACI and IFAD Autos.

The port city bourse – CSE – also saw sharp decline in early hour with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – losing 19.25 points to 8,292.58, also at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 17 gained, 46 declined and 7 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 38m.
