Stocks open optimistic

The prices of most of the shares at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw steep gain in early hours of trading on Sunday.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went up by 54.54 points or 1.21 percent to 4,522.44 after the first 30 minutes of trade at 11:00am.

The two others indices also saw steep gain.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 26.10 points or 1.54 percent to 1,712.78.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 18.89 points or 1.74 percent to reach 1,100.38 points.

DSE turnover stood at Tk 488 million at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 154 advanced, 29 declined and 21 remained unchanged.

Lafarge Surma Cement was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 98.22m changing hands till then followed by ACI, SPCL, Agni Systems and Shasha Denims.

The port city bourse – CSE – also witnessed positive trend in early hour with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – gaining 18.26 points to reach 8,318.35, also at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 67 gained, 18 declined and 9 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 39m.
